There is no "position" on global warming. It's just physics. Energy enters the planet from the sun, mostly in our equatorial regions. Some of that energy is reflected back into space. Green house gases in the atmosphere prevent some of that energy going into space, and instead reflect it back to the ground. So the more green house gases we have built up, the more energy is trapped. This energy goes into our oceans which we can see here:

Additionally this energy naturally flows to the poles, and we can anticipate that at some point there was enough of an energy shift to start melting the ice at both the North and South poles. Indeed this is the case:
