Really well said Kirsten. We have a very human intractable problem here. Even if you could convince an entire country to return to a nomadic lifestyle (not considering the highly probable need to hugely reduce population), how long would it be before another nation saw your untapped resources and your military weakness and then just invade.

I fear that whilst logically sustainability is a solvable problem, it's also not solvable in the context of the human condition.
