Nicely written Lannie, and yes I think you're bang on. I am a bit younger, born in 77, but I still remember the sheer optimism of the 80's. You can feel it in the music and see it in the movies. The future was so bright. We would be masters of the earth, sky, sea and space with infinite energy thanks to cold fusion.

Now the curtain has been pulled back, and we can see that it was all an elaborate ruse, and all we are masters of is our own self destruction... And, sadly, we are the agents of extinction of most living things.
