Nicely written. I agree with all your points. My last company spent a fortune splitting out a monolith. It introduced so much developer pain. I'm not saying it was a bad idea exactly, but to do it right is difficult and you do need to be sure it's time before deciding to do it. And read up as much as you can, and plan carefully
