I’m a lead developer and I’m personally not a huge fan of coding tests during an interview. My brain just doesn’t work that way. I need time to think and I do that best alone when I have the mental space to explore. My last 3 jobs have all had take home tests, and all of them were clear and reasonable, giving devs a chance to show off their OO skills but without asking for too much. It’s all about what the test is asking you to do. If you can complete it in 4–6 hours I’m good with that.
