I think this is actually why we're in serious trouble. Most people cannot believe it. We're certainly not acting like it. I wonder even if we did start emotionally believing it, whether it's possible to live sustainably with 8 billion people. Here in England most people live in terraced houses without enough roof realestate to come even close to powering ourselves with solar energy. I read about a guy in Switzerland that has come close to all year power self sufficiency but he has 75, yes 75 solar panels. Most houses here would be lucky to fit 8, and a lot of houses face east to west, with no south facing roof realestate. Maybe if we had 5 million people instead of close to 70 we'd have have enough space for solar, farming and manufacturing in a more sustainable way. But now, I think we've squeezed in too many people and logistically it's just too damn late.
