1. I read Medium daily, mainly during the evening. I have written only a couple of articles and hope to write more in the future.
2. My main daily reading is Medium, Reddit, The Guardian and Hacker news (I'm a software engineer)
3. I appreciate quality writing, well researched, truthful and interesting. A sense of humour is a bonus. I don't like it when I feel like an author is being overly repetitive (wasting my time), or too manipulative or if they just haven't done their homework.
4. Probably about an hour a day. Long reads are fine but they must be captivating and educating me. Otherwise shorter and too the point is better.
5. I definitely like commenting and being able to connect with the author. I also like being able to have discussions with other readers, either to give them support or try to point out a flaw in the logic if there is one.
6. I see Medium as primarily a writers site and place I can read more diverse and frankly honest material than you get in a newspaper. Your writing on global warming is a good example of brutal truth that is rarely seen elsewhere.
7. The commenting system is not great. It is difficult to get back to the original article or comment context when you view the comments from the notification area. It's also very easy to lose a comment, and I don't think you can see the name of the author when you're actually writing the comment. Some viewing stats would be nice on comments too.
8. I don't read books very often but the authors that stand out to me are William Golding and George Orwell.
9. I like thoughtful discussion and criticism. I can do without personal insults and flame wars.
10. Richard Crim, Lanie Rose, and yourself Tessa. I will also mention the big two: Jw and Uh - sometimes their work is excellent and truly next level. Often however it's very repetitive and I suspect designed to keep your eyes on their page rather than conveying something useful.
11. Non fiction, mostly stuff about the environment, programming or psychology.
12. Yes I am computer professional, I work with on a busy social site, working with databases, code and infrastructure.
13. Atheist, left (I'd like to call it the side of animals, nature and future generations).
14. I am 45 (born in 77) so whatever generation that makes me.
